Maria

Using digital software, Twine, to code an extended haiku I developed "Maria," inspired by Puerto Rico and Hurricane Maria (2017). The Category-4 storm devastated the island, yet the community showed resilience and pride in moving forward. This poem captures the strength of the Puerto Rican people in the aftermath of destruction.

To gather inspiration for the visuals, I began by compiling a mood board and a series of pictures from various experiences during Puerto Rican festivities and events. I was immediately captivated by the culture's vibrant use of an array of colors. After seeking inspiration, I began illustrating the images to go along with the poem.
